Hello again loyal troopers, the time has come for another update flush with the new content you've been waiting for...
Thanks Again
First off, we'd like to say one last bit of thanks for the many of you who voted for us in the 2008 Mod of the Year Awards. Without your votes and continued support, there's no way we would be where we are today. Continuing on since the end of 2008, we've been hard at work fixing bugs (most notoriously the infamous modified content error), implementing new content, improving old content, and working on new maps for your playing enjoyment.
And now, without further ado, let us get to the content....
Last time, I promise...
Our first update takes us back to the barren, seemingly lifeless deserts of Tatooine. FSDev| Krenyo has been hard at work modeling and texturing his own statics for a new map set in the Jundland Wastes. Many of you may be familiar with FSDev| Krenyo's work already. His FS debut map, Null Sensor Station, was a hit on the servers, and Jundland Wastes definitely has the potential to become a new favorite. A bit of a "tourist map", Jundland Wastes will feature several famous Star Wars locales previously unscathed by the blasters of First Strike.
Next Stop Dathomir
Some of you may remember this map from before 1.4. Unfortunately man-power and time restrictions led us to cut Dathomir from the 1.4 lineup, but it's being brought back to life for our next release. Set on the prison world of Dathomir, this map offers a completely different atmosphere than anything seen in First Strike to-date. The newest addition to the map is an entirely new prison complex modeled by FSDev| Krenyo.
We've Spotted Imperial Walkers
Last but not least, we return once more to the planet of the ice. The Battle of Hoth is by far the biggest project on the plate of every developer here at First Strike, and work continues apace. While the largest portion of the work left for Hoth will go on solely in the background, we do have a new and improved (now with more lore-accuracy!) ATAT texture to show off, made by FSDev| Yoshiboy. And of course, how could Echo Base ever be complete without a fully realized version of the Millennium Falcon residing in Hangar 7 (texture still WIP).
Well that's it for this week troopers, hope you enjoyed all the new content that will be making its way to your homes Soon(TM). Don't forget to join us for the community games this weekend, and remember troopers....
For a chance to be in the next report, join in the action every Saturday and Sunday at 21GMT and 19GMT respectively on the DSGaming.net server. Also, make sure to stay tuned, as we have a big content update on the way as well as a new contest for our fans.
The After-Action Report Video is a brain-child of Safe-Keeper, leader of our newly formed Media Team. This team, we hope, will in the future be able to provide new and innovative ways to keep you all up-to-date with the action going on not only on the front lines, but behind the scenes here at First Strike. If you think you have a talent that could be beneficial to the team, please get in touch with Safe-Keeper via the forums or email at mediateam at fsmod.com
The results are in, and we're happy to announce that First Strike came in at fourth place in the 2008 Mod of the Year Awards in the Player's Choice: Mod of the Year category. The competition was stiff in a year which has been very strong for the modding community in general, and the winning mod this year was Project Reality. Congratulations to them and all the other teams who made it to the Top 10 Mods of the year.
We here at First Strike would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to all of our loyal community members and everyone who voted for First Strike this year. Placing so well really means a lot to us, and helps make all the work and sleep deprivation worth it. We wouldn't be able to do it without your support.
