First Strike Fan Fiction Contest Results

Greetings Troopers!

And welcome to the conclusion of the First Strike Fan Fiction Contest.

Two months ago we gave community members the chance to stretch their creative muscles and create a little slice of First Strike flavoured Star Wars action in the form of a work of short fiction of 2000 words or less. These tales would then be entered into the contest and the winner would gain tester status giving them advance access to the new maps currently in production for First Strike, and give them the opportunity to have a work of their fiction immortalised in the mod in the form of a loading screen intel report for a brand new map.

Well now the entries are in, and though we had not as strong a response to this competition as expected, we never the less saw some excellent talent revealed, and some great works of fiction on display for all to read.

So it is with great pleasure that we can reveal that the winner of the first First Strike Fan Fiction Contest is...

RSFAngel

A long time member of the First Strike Community. His tale titled Career Decision, based on the Bandomeer Refinery Assault map, had everything we were looking for from a story for this competition. A tale true to the spirit of the movies, and First Strike's ethos of centring the action on the common grunt in that galaxy far, far away. It has humour and an effective twist ending, a very nice piece of work well deserving of winning this contest.

Career Decision

So now what? Well RSFAngel will soon be getting the inside skinny on a new map in development, Jundland Wastes, and when given the gameplay details he'll be free to go off and write the back-story to this interesting new map featuring a lot of locations very close to most Star Wars fans hearts.

Congratulations on winning the contest RSFAngel, we look forward to reviewing your new work for inclusion into the mod.

Finally I'd like to give a special mention to Twigs who had to pull out of the competition due to his job resulting in him shipping out to Afghanistan earlier this month which would obviously mean he would not be available to complete the tasks included in the prize should he win. He was easily the most prolific entrant of the competition with no less than 3 competition entries, and once he knew he had to pull out, still further works of fiction posted in other forums that were no longer contest entries, but just tales written for the fun of it, with each tale he has written he just seems to have gotten better, resulting in a fine body of work. So Twigs we'd like to salute you for your fine efforts here, and wish you the very best of luck out there. Come back home safe fella.
