| Imperial military service is an unforgiving mistress. If those who manage to obtain the higher ranks (by whatever means) let their guard down but for a moment, or fail to perform to the high standards that got them there in the first place? Then they can find that the price of failure can be swift and brutal. As a certain Captain Needa could attest, ...if he were still breathing.
And so it is that we come to this month's series of special awards, and an occasion where a highly ranked and decorated officer of the Imperial Fleet is banished from this most exclusive officer's club.

It is good to see that your meteoric rise through the ranks of our Emperor's forces was no mere flash in the pan. You have continued to perform at a level that redefines excellence, and have shown dedication and prowess on myriad battlefields across the galaxy. The Emperor is indeed pleased with your staggering progress, and it is with pleasure that I can inform you of your promotion to the rank of Grand Admiral, but with such a sterling record to date, how can you possibly hope to maintain such a level of performance? The Dark Lords will be watching.

In today's climate of young officers on the fast track to the top, even the most dedicated and capable officers in the Imperial fleet are not immune to their hunger for power, but the Emperor is wise and knows how to motivate his men, you are therefore demoted to the rank of Grand Moff. It would seem that the Dark Lord still has faith in you, and hopes that this demotion will give you the incentive to work that much harder to regain his favour. It would be unwise to disappoint him further.

It appears that you will maintain your position as Moff in the Emperor's forces (3rd time running). Our Dark Lord appreciates consistency, but hopes that you are not getting too comfortable in your chair at Sector Headquarters, as there are many a young officer in the fleet with an eye on your position. Complacency can ruin your day as a high ranking member of the Imperial fleet as much as incompetence. You'd best watch yourself.

Your performance on and off the battlefield has remained exemplary in the war against this pathetic outlawed rebellion, but other fine officers in the fleet have caught the Emperor's attention, their desire to climb through the ranks a shining beacon that has placed you in the shade. You are hereby demoted to the rank of Moff. The Imperial military will always have room for valuable assets such as yourself and I'm sure that given time you will once again find the opportunity to gain the Emperor's favour.

It appears that your military career is yet another victim of the ambitious young officers that the New Order has attracted into it's ranks. There is only so much room at the top and competition for those most valued posts is fierce. A high level of excellence must be maintained if you wish to remain at the highest ranks of the Imperial military, so unfortunately I must inform you that you have been demoted to Fleet Admiral.

My final duty during this awards ceremony is to inform you of the Emperor's displeasure at your level of performance within his forces of late. In an unusual act of mercy from his eminence, our Dark Lord has decided not to make you Lord Vader's plaything, but to instead demote you to the lowly rank of Captain. I can only assume that the Emperor forsees a day when you will once again be of use to the Empire. That day however is not today. Report to the Bulk Freighter Bantha's Burden where you will commence a tour of duty commanding her on supply runs to the Outer Rim, perhaps on these long voyages you will have time to think of new ways to please your Emperor. You are dismissed.
